School Parent Groups

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

Just as there may be parent groups at the district level, formal and informal, there may be parent groups already established in your school.

The relevant policy and legislation may define existing parent groups at your school. Several jurisdictions (see the Parent 2.0 wiki for a description) require a parent council, a parent advisory board, or a parent-teacher association (PTA) group be in place. The format, purpose and operation of these groups may be well-defined in the legislation.

Honour those parent groups. Work with them. Your parent group may already be leading the Project Team.

There may also be informal parent groups at your school. Class Moms and Dads, the Track and Field Day Committee, or the Newcomers Club. Work with these groups and engage them in the whole school community.
