Communications Plan

Throughout your planning and deployment, you need to communicate with all your stakeholders on a regular basis.

A communication plan speaks to messaging, audience, medium and timing. That is, what is the message, who needs to hear the message, how will the message be delivered and, when will it be delivered? As you think about the work that is happening, try seeing it through the eyes of all the different audiences (parents, teachers, trustees, principals, district staff, others?) and think about what they do not know and what they need to know. That will help you to build your communications plan.

It is very helpful to have someone with communications expertise on your Project Team, and you might consider that when your Team is being developed. That person could be a parent or a staff member. If there is not a communications experts available, still be sure to build a plan and do the activities in your plan that help others to know what is happening and how it will affect them, help them, and support them in their roles.
